Introducing "The Joe and Michael Show"

We all recall the video disaster from last week. It took several days to solve the problem, but because you'll come up against this kind of situation frequently, here's what happened. PicturePackage, the software program that lets me download videos from my Sony Handycam, turns out to have a glitch that required me to download a new version (1.8 vs. 1.5). If you are having trouble with software, simply Google the problem, and a solution is likely available.
However, the USB software that allows me to download the video does not seem to work, and there is no repair on Google. The device was not even on my computer when I checked properties, and would not upload to my computer when I ran the software again.
The solution was to connect a "firewire" 1394 cable from camera to the computer, when I was able to download to either the Windows Movie Maker program or the Sony Picture Package program. I chose movie maker because it allowed me to download the entire clip at once for uploading to the editing program. Picture Package will do it in pieces.
